Potty Training Tips
Potty Training is probably the most frustrating thing about training a puppy. If done correctly, potty training can be easy and quick. Consistency is the key! Here are a few tips to help:
1. Monitor the amount of water you give your puppy. If you know how much is going in, you will know what has to come out. 2. Your puppy should be let outside to go potty about every 2 hours. Yes, at first you will have a few sleepless nights. But wouldn’t you rather have just a few sleepless nights than a puppy who potties in their crate and your house? 3. When your puppy goes potty outside make sure you praise them like they just won the lottery. Make a big deal and you can even reward with treats. The only way to correct the puppy for going in the house is to catch them in the act. If you find a puddle or pile, it is too late to correct the dog. They simply don’t remember what they did, and to correct them at this point would be considered cruel. |
